\"HappyYou probably know the importance of wearing sunscreen and protecting your skin from the summer sun, and you probably know how important it is to drink a lot of water when you\u2019re outside in the sun to protect your health. But it is just as important to\u00a0protect your eyes<\/a>! Read on for some reminders about taking care of your eyes this summer!<\/p>\n

Wear your sunglasses<\/h2>\n

UV light from the sun can do serious damage to your eyes. You should wear sunglasses even on cloudy days, as UV light can still make its way through the clouds. Also, keep in mind that sunglasses aren\u2019t just for summer \u2013 the sun may not feel as strong in the fall and winter months, but it can still do damage.<\/p>\n

Make sure you get sunglasses that offer 100% protection against UV rays. If you work outside in the sun all day long, you might want to invest in some wraparound sunglasses, and if you drive long distances during the day you might want to get polarized sunglasses to reduce glare. Larger sunglasses will protect not only your eyes but the skin around your eyes, which can become damaged and start to develop wrinkles and fine lines after years of sun exposure. And, get some sunglasses for your children to wear, too, because exposure to the sun at a young age can mean problems with eyes later in life.<\/p>\n

Wear a hat<\/h2>\n

The sun can cause so much damage that it\u2019s not a bad idea to protect yourself from it as much as possible. A wide-brimmed hat, in addition to sunglasses, can help to keep the sun out of your eyes.<\/p>\n

Opt for contact lenses<\/h2>\n

Did you know that some contact lenses offer UV protection? Ask your doctor about these kinds of contacts for even more protection.<\/p>\n

Avoid the sun when it\u2019s at its worst<\/h2>\n

The sun is at its highest and harshest from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.\u00a0During these hours it is best to stay indoors, as it is the most dangerous time for your eyes, skin, and general health.<\/p>\n
